8th-Aug-2008 06:52 pm - Look! I'm Not Dead!
*waves tentatively*

Hello... Despite evidence to the contrary, I didn't fall off a cliff and die. I wasn't planning on taking a long hiatus. But it was a much needed break from the internet. I actually hadn't realized it had been so long since I had posted anything. Needless to say, my inbox was a nightmare...

A lot has happened since my last post...Collapse )

Lots of changes have happened in my life lately. But I think things have finally calmed down. I don't plan on being "addicted" to the internet like I was before. But hopefully I can at least check my email more than twice a year...
15th-Nov-2007 08:52 pm - I live!
I figured I should let you all know that I'm still alive. Especially after my horrible day yesterday.

I was driving to work when all of a sudden I see something red in the corner of my eye. The next thing I knew I had slammed into something and was sliding across the highway. I didn't even realize I had hit the guard rail. I was just thrilled I had stopped. It turns out the driver of a box truck had been trying to avoid rear ending someone and turned into my lane. Which wouldn't have been a problem except I was right beside him at the time. My front right tire hit his front left tire and driver's side door. Of course, his truck won. My car took all of the damage. Thankfully I wasn't seriously injured. (Day 2 and my back and arms are killing me though. Luckily I found some Vicodin in the medicine cabinet...) At least the driver stopped and several helpful people took care of calling 911. I think I cried when I saw my car. I really didn't think it was going to be that bad. I'm still waiting to hear from the insurance adjuster but I'll be shocked if it's not totaled.

21st-Oct-2007 07:08 pm - Oooh look! I'm alive!
Um, long time no update? I seem to have vanished from the face of the earth lately... I've been around, sort of...

Hmm, where to start? I spent two wonderful, busy, tiring weeks in Texas visiting relatives.Collapse )
Overall, it was one of those vacations that you enjoy but then you end up needing a vacation from your vacation...

I'm not really sure what happened after I got back from vacation... That was, wow, 2 weeks ago... Work was crazy when I got back. My co-worker and I (both of us having only started 3 months ago) are now in charge of 6 temps for our 'Fax Project'. It keeps growing and growing. And the end is looking far off. Sometime in April, if we're lucky. So I've been running around at work trying to fix problems and finding whole new problems. Meanwhile I'm dealing with temps who have no idea what they're doing. And my boss has been even busier than me which leaves just me and Tyler to deal with them. Which is making me full of stress.

And then my friends, being typical friends, practically hijacked me the moment I got back from vacation. I've been watching new Heroes eps with Rachel, watching first season Heroes with Jen, playing designated driver for Jen and Megan so they could get wasted at TGI Fridays on $3 Long Island Ice Teas... And I spent yesterday in New York City with Amy. It was great since I got to visit places I didn't get to go see when I was there a few years ago with my Canadian friends. We went to Times Square, Central Park, and Battery Park where we walked by Ground Zero. And I was pleased to find I still knew my way around the subway system. The only time we got lost all day was trying to find the bus. We made it to 8th Ave and 14th St and then walked the wrong way down 14th... It turns out if we had turned around we would have seen the bus. It was another tiring day and the bus ride home sucked. Those seats are not designed for sleeping...

I believe today was my first productive day around the house in two weeks. I cleaned my room, finally unpacked from vacation, and payed my bills. I think I've finally gotten everything sorted out. Except for my internet activities. I'm still wading through the backlog. My inbox has exploded. And I promised to do certain things that I haven't looked into yet. I shall catch up one of these days!

Hopefully... if I ever manage to get enough sleep. I don't think I've had a decent night of sleep in over a year. I wake up every few hours each night and I'm not sure I always hit that deep REM sleep. And I've gotten such little sleep in the last week that I'm starting to get that annoying eye twitch thing. Which I'm sure only annoys me. In that creepy, 'what the hell is that?' sort of way. One of these days I will make that doctor's appointment. Just as soon as I find the time.

Never let it be said that programmers do not have a sense of humor.

At least, finding methods called DataDefunkifier and ObjectMolester brought a smile to my face.
